Install Base Mass Update ( WebADI Mass Update)
Introduction: You can perform mass
updates on sets of item instances, by changing different attributes, including
party associations.
Oracle Install Base mass updates are
grouped to cater to specific business objects and transactions. The five types
of mass update are:
- Transfer Owner
- Terminate
- Move
- General
- Web ADI
The
WebADI Mass Update batch type allows users to download a Microsoft Excel
template with selected item instances. Create or update the item instances, and
then upload the revised spreadsheet. After the upload is complete, the modified
data is uploaded to interface tables and is automatically processed by the
asynchronous Initiate Mass Edit concurrent program.
- Click the Mass Update tab (Oracle Installed Base Agent User > Mass Update > Mass Update)

In the Create Batch field, select the Web ADI type, and
click the Go button.

Enter Batch Name and Batch Description

4. Select one of these values from
the Action drop-down list:
- Manage Item Instances: Select this option to create new instances or update existing instances by copying data from a different version of Excel. You can then copy the row into the empty template and upload to make changes.
- Search and Manage Instances: Select this option to search for and manage existing item instances
Manage Item Instances
Follow these steps to create an empty template to use to create new item instances:
1. Select the Manage Item Instances option and click the Go button. The Viewer page appears:

2. Select the version of Microsoft Excel that you want to use and click the Next button. The following Information message appears:

Solution: Check the MS Excel and/or
Internet Explorer Setup as per below

Menu > Excel Option > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings
Then
under Macro Settings - select the checkbox for Trust access to the VBA
project object model
2. Internet Explorer Settings (If
required/using IE)(1) Open Internet Explorer browser window, click on Tools Menu.
(2) When the Tools menu appears, click “Internet Options” at the bottom of the Tools menu.
(3) Click on the security tab.

(4) When the Security page
appears, click the “Internet” icon in the “Select a zone” box and then click
the “Custom Level..” button.
(5) When the “Security Settings” dialog box appears, scroll down to “Scripting”
on the menu. Enable “Allow status bar updates via script” Select OK
(6) You may receive a Warning. Please select “Yes”
(7) Finally, click “OK” to close the Internet Options dialog box.
(8) Close the browser window so that new settings can be used

The system creates the template (Excel spreadsheet).

A note on the symbols used in the Excel template:
* - Indicates Mandatory Fields
# - Indicates Mandatory Fields (Serial Number, Lot Number and ItemRev) Based on SerialControlCode, LotControlCode and ItemRevisionCode
^ - Indicates Mandatory if Owner Party Type is Party
6. Update the spreadsheet and save your changes.
7. Select Oracle, Upload from the Microsoft Excel toolbar to upload the spreadsheet data to Install Base
The Initiate Mass Edit asynchronous concurrent program is automatically triggered when the Upload option is selected. The program processes the records interface table to create or update the item instances. You can check the status of the process, and view a log that provides all information related to created instances and updated instances. It also gives error details if something cannot be created or updated.
